1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Bengkel Auto ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our vehicle maintenance tracking application. By using Bengkel Auto, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our services:

a) Account Information

  • Email address (used solely for account creation and authentication)
  • No passwords are stored by us — authentication is handled securely via Supabase

b) User-Generated Data

  • Vehicle details (make, model, variant, year, plate number, vehicle type)
  • Service records (date, mileage, workshop name, cost, notes)
  • Service parts and maintenance line items
  • Workshop information (name, address, phone number, favourites)
  • Service reminders and maintenance schedules

c) Receipt Photos
You may optionally attach photos of service receipts to your service records.

  • Receipt photos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers
  • If you use the AI Receipt Scanning feature (Bengkel Auto Pro), a resized copy of your receipt photo is temporarily transmitted to Anthropic's API for text extraction. The image is processed and immediately discarded — Anthropic does not retain your images after processing. See Section 7 for full details
  • Photos are saved in the App's private storage directory and are not accessible to other apps
  • Receipt photos are permanently deleted from your device when you delete the associated service record or uninstall the App
  • Because receipt photos are not backed up to the cloud, they cannot be recovered if you uninstall the App or switch devices

d) Subscription Data
If you subscribe to Bengkel Auto Pro, we collect and process the following via RevenueCat and Apple:

  • Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
  • Purchase history (via Apple App Store)
  • A RevenueCat anonymous user ID linked to your device

We do not store your payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Apple.

e) Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions:

  • Camera: To photograph receipts and attach them to service records
  • Photo Library: To select existing images from your gallery as receipt photos

These permissions are entirely optional. The App will only request them when you choose to use the receipt photo feature. Denying these permissions does not affect any other App functionality.

f) Technical Data
We do not collect device identifiers, location data, advertising IDs, crash reports, or analytics data. We do not access your camera or photo library for any purpose other than the receipt photo feature described above.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Store and sync your vehicle and service data across devices
  • Send local notifications for service reminders (processed entirely on your device)
  • Restore your data if you reinstall the App or switch devices
  • Process receipt images through AI to extract service record details (Pro feature — only when you initiate a scan)
  • Manage your subscription status and entitlements

We do not use your data for advertising profiling, sell your data to third parties, or share your data with any party other than those listed in Section 5.

4. Data Storage

a) Local Storage
All your vehicle and service data is primarily stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database. The App is designed to work fully offline.

Receipt photos attached to service records are stored exclusively in the App's private local storage on your device. They are not included in cloud backup and will not sync to other devices.

b) Cloud Backup (Optional via Account)
When you create an account and log in, your vehicle and service text data is backed up to secure cloud servers to allow cross-device sync and data recovery. This cloud backup is linked to your email account and protected by Row Level Security — only you can access your data.

Note: Receipt photos are explicitly excluded from cloud backup. Only structured data (vehicle details, service records, reminders, workshop information) is synced to the cloud.

c) Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request data deletion, all associated cloud data will be permanently removed within 30 days. Local data on your device can be deleted by uninstalling the App.

5. Third-Party Services

Bengkel Auto uses the following third-party services:

Supabase (supabase.com)

  • Purpose: Authentication (email sign-in) and cloud data backup
  • Data shared: Email address, and your vehicle/service data (encrypted at rest)
  • Supabase is GDPR-compliant and stores data on secure servers
  • Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy

Anthropic (anthropic.com) — AI Receipt Scanning (Pro feature)

  • Purpose: Processing receipt images to extract structured data (date, workshop name, costs, line items)
  • Data shared: A resized, compressed copy of your receipt photo — transmitted only when you initiate a scan
  • Anthropic does not retain receipt images after processing
  • Anthropic Privacy Policy: anthropic.com/privacy

RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — Subscription Management (Pro feature)

  • Purpose: Managing subscription status, entitlements, and purchase verification
  • Data shared: An anonymous device identifier and subscription/purchase history from Apple
  • RevenueCat does not receive your personal details or payment card information
  • RevenueCat Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

Apple App Store — In-App Purchases

  • Purpose: Processing subscription payments for Bengkel Auto Pro
  • All billing is handled directly by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details
  • Apple Privacy Policy: apple.com/privacy

We do not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, social media SDKs, or data brokers.

6. Data Security

  • Authentication is handled via Supabase with secure token management
  • Cloud data is protected by Row Level Security (RLS) — your data is isolated and inaccessible to other users
  • All data transmitted between the App and cloud servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Receipt images sent for AI scanning are transmitted over HTTPS and are not retained by Anthropic after processing
  • We do not store passwords

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. AI Receipt Scanning

Bengkel Auto Pro includes an AI-powered receipt scanning feature. When you use this feature:

  • Your receipt photo is resized and compressed on-device before transmission
  • The compressed image is sent over HTTPS to Anthropic's Claude API, which reads the receipt and returns structured data (date, workshop name, line items, total cost)
  • The extracted text data is filled into the service record form on your device
  • Anthropic does not store or train on your receipt images after processing
  • The original receipt photo remains on your device only; only the temporary compressed copy is transmitted
  • You are not required to use this feature. You can always fill in service records manually

By using the AI Receipt Scanning feature, you consent to your receipt image being temporarily processed by Anthropic's API as described above.

8. Subscriptions

Bengkel Auto Pro is an optional paid subscription. In connection with subscriptions, we collect and process:

  • Your subscription status (active, expired, or trialling) via RevenueCat
  • Purchase history (via Apple App Store)
  • A RevenueCat anonymous user ID linked to your device

We do not receive your payment details. All billing data is held by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

9. Your Rights Under Malaysia's PDPA

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Withdraw consent to the processing of your data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data

10. Children's Privacy

Bengkel Auto is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Bengkel Auto ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and the developer of Bengkel Auto ("we", "us", "Developer").

2. Description of Service

Bengkel Auto is a vehicle maintenance tracking application available in a free tier and a paid Pro tier.

Free tier includes:

  • Record and track vehicle details and service history (up to 2 vehicles)
  • Set maintenance reminders and schedules
  • Save workshop information
  • Attach receipt photos to service records (stored locally on device)

Bengkel Auto Pro includes everything in the free tier, plus:

  • Unlimited vehicles
  • AI receipt scanning — automatically extract service details from receipt photos
  • Cloud backup and cross-device sync

3. User Accounts

  • You may use the App without an account (offline mode), but cloud backup and cross-device sync require a registered account.
  • To create an account, you must provide a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
  • You must provide accurate information during registration. Creating an account with false information is a violation of these Terms.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

4. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

a) Bengkel Auto Pro
Bengkel Auto Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks premium features including AI receipt scanning, cloud backup, and unlimited vehicles.

b) Pricing

  • Subscription prices are displayed in your local currency on the App Store at the time of purchase
  • Prices may vary by region and are set in accordance with Apple's pricing tiers
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. Price changes will take effect at your next renewal date, and Apple will notify you in advance

c) Free Trial
New subscribers may be offered a free trial period before their subscription begins. During the trial, you have full access to all Pro features. Your payment method will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it expires. Eligibility for a free trial is determined by Apple and may vary.

d) Billing and Renewal

  • All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not store your payment details
  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
  • Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period

e) Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Pro access until that date. We do not offer partial refunds for unused subscription time.

f) Refunds
All purchases are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable law or Apple's own refund policies. Refund requests must be directed to Apple. We have no ability to issue refunds directly.

g) Subscription Lapse
If your Pro subscription expires or is cancelled, your account reverts to the free tier. Your existing data is preserved. A final sync of your local data to the cloud is performed at the point of lapse. You may resubscribe at any time to restore Pro access.

h) AI Receipt Scanning Usage
AI receipt scanning is a Pro feature powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Each scan incurs a small processing cost on our end. We reserve the right to apply fair-use limits in the future if usage is found to be excessive, with advance notice to affected users.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Bengkel Auto only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for any illegal purpose or in violation of any Malaysian law
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App or its servers
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App to transmit harmful, offensive, or malicious content
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the App's operation or infrastructure
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App without written permission
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription gates or access Pro features without a valid subscription

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, logos, and features of Bengkel Auto are the exclusive property of the Developer and are protected by intellectual property laws.

These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the App. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

User-generated data (vehicle records, service logs, etc.) remains your property. By using the App, you grant us a limited licence to store and process this data solely to provide the App's services to you.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION.

The App is a tool to assist in tracking vehicle maintenance. It does not provide professional mechanical, automotive, or safety advice. Always consult a qualified mechanic for vehicle maintenance and repair decisions.

Service reminder dates and intervals shown in the App are estimates based on data you enter. We are not responsible for any vehicle damage, failure, or safety issues arising from reliance on these estimates.

AI receipt scanning results are generated automatically and may contain errors. Always review and verify scanned data before saving. We are not responsible for inaccuracies in AI-extracted receipt data.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY MALAYSIAN LAW, THE DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • Loss of data due to device failure, uninstallation, or account deletion
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profit, revenue, or business
  • Vehicle damage or repair costs, regardless of whether they arise from use of the App
  • Errors or inaccuracies in AI-scanned receipt data

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the three months preceding the claim, or RM 10.00, whichever is greater.

9. Age Restriction

Bengkel Auto is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 16 years of age. We reserve the right to terminate any account found to belong to a user under this age.

10. Data Loss

While we provide cloud backup functionality, you acknowledge that:

  • Uninstalling the App without an account will permanently delete all local data
  • We are not responsible for data loss caused by device failure, theft, or circumstances beyond our control
  • Cloud backup depends on a working internet connection and is best-effort
  • You should maintain your own records of critical vehicle information
  • Receipt photos are stored locally only and are NOT included in cloud backup. They will be permanently lost if you uninstall the App, switch devices, or delete the associated service record. We are not responsible for loss of receipt photos under any circumstances.

11. Service Availability

We do not guarantee that the App or its cloud features will be available at all times. We reserve the right to temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, discontinue features or the App entirely with reasonable notice, or modify or update the App with notice.

In the event the App is discontinued, we will provide at least 30 days' notice and offer a mechanism to export your data.

12. Termination

  • You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time via Profile → Account → Delete Account, or by contacting us at hello.bengkelauto@gmail.com.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Your cloud data will be deleted within 30 days. Active subscriptions are not refunded upon termination for violations of these Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

We encourage resolving disputes informally first — please contact us at hello.bengkelauto@gmail.com before initiating any formal legal proceedings.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right, without liability, to revise these Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy at any time. Where reasonably practicable, we will give you reasonable advance notice of such changes.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any revision shall constitute your unconditional acceptance of such revisions. If you do not accept the revised Terms, you must cease using the App within fifteen (15) working days from the effective date of such changes.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding your use of Bengkel Auto and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
